Man impacts rotation of the earth!!!!

If you read this story, what it says is that man is impacting the length of days based upon things we do.

So, if we build too much or dig too much or have too many people in a city, we could speed up or slow down the rotation of the earth.

In about 5 years when someone is seriously talking about legislation to control what can be built or how many people can live in one geographic region due to the impact on the rotational speed of the earth, I want you to remember this post.

Aloha.

Green Energy

Let's talk about "green energy".

First, we started using things like windmills and water flow to generate power. Typically, that power was in the form of motion of some kind. Sawmills would use water power to turn belts that would turn saws. Windmills have been used to bring water up from wells on farms for centuries.

We have used wind power as well to power/move our ships with sail. We have used steam power for the same purpose as well.

Then we started using fossil fuels to generate electricity. We burned coal and natural gas and processed oil into gasoline.

So, what was the problem? Well, form the green perspective, the problem was the pollutants put off by what was being burned. Originally, those pollutants were attacked because of the dark gunk, ash and clouds that were produced. Those who cut wood were accused of "clear cutting" trees and "devastating" ecosystems. Unfortunately for the green people, advancing humanity and generating bountiful power trumped causing problems for some animals. People were assumed to be more important than animals.

Then the green people realized what was necessary for them to be heard. What was necessary was for people to believe that these things were harming them somehow.

Hello Global Cooling.

That's right. Global Cooling. That was the first claim.

Then that became "acid rain". Visions of rain melting metal roofs and peoples' faces off come from that, right?

Then came the "hole in the ozone layer." This was going to let ultraviolet (cancer causing) rays (and probably gamma rays) to get through and give us all cancer.

Then, with the el nino pattern picking up in the Pacific in the 90's, the green people decided that they needed to up their game.

In came "Global Warming". The earth's climate was being drastically changed by man-made greenhouse gas (CO2). This all came from our use of fossil fuels. All potential natural causes of increased levels of CO2 were written off or ignored.

Now, recently, it has been discovered that some of the assumptions about global warming are wrong and that some of the scientists involved in global warming research have been less than honest.

So, what's the next step in Green Energy, for those that truly believe in the green movement? After all, global warming is not the end goal of the green movement. Minimizing Man's impact upon the environment is the green movement's goal. If the green movement was only interested in cutting emissions of CO2, nuclear power would be something that is embraced, not despised.

Here's the next step:

Wind turbines are a visual blight and very unnatural. Wave power collectors are also very unnatural. Within the next few years, there will start to be a buzz about how wind turbines and wave power collectors are impacting the rotation of the earth. Having just watched a science show talking about how the moon has impacted the rotation of the earth by its existence and minimal gravitational pull, it seems too simple.

Now, the real reason why the green movement doesn't want big wind turbines is because it is "unnatural" and doesn't fit with the green movement's view of minimizing Man's impact upon the planet. They will not site the birds killed by the turbines, or the fish killed or forced to lose their migration pattern by wave power collectors too loudly. They will claim something that those lower people will understand. If we keep building windmills the earth will stop spinning and one side of the planet will bake and the other side will freeze.

Who would want that?

Welcome to Dan's Next Step

In this blog, I will take thoughts that people think are good now and take them to the next step.

Most people think their ideas are good, but fail to understand where their thoughts came from and, most tragically, where they will lead.

Aloha.
